Creating a guiding frame based on personal values and beliefs is fundamentally important to set yourself up for professional (and personal) success. When you ground yourself in a personalized frame it is easier to make sense and rationalize actions. Actions become more intentional, you become more sensitive to personal boundaries, increasing your ability to make powerful decisions, set your goals effectively, avoid unnecessary stress, and lead your business purposefully and authentically from the inside-out.
I took my time to identify a few things that I know for sure to be true for me. They present some of the corner stones to my business frame.
- The right support systems will get me through anything
I leverage from two types of support systems to keep me grounded, grow, and take risks. Sometimes the person giving me emotional support and mentor support comes in one package, sometimes it comes from different people.
My emotional support system consists of friends and family members who provide unconditional support, unrelated to any of my actions and achievements. They are my rock and I can always rely on them. My professional support system consists of peers and mentors who believe in my ability to succeed and are willing to provide feedback, advice, encourage, and challenge me professionally to be my best.
- Continuous self-assessments and adjustments are key to success
As soon as I get too comfortable with myself and stop actively developing myself and my business the success of my business will wane because I will stop being my best. Demands and needs change all the time; it never stops. In order stay competitive and successful, I know I need to remain flexible and make changes as needed.
- There is a lesson in everything
I find it incredibly soothing to know that there is a lesson in everything I experience. No matter how hard the situation or experience, I am looking for the lesson I can learn. I am sure that there is an opportunity to learn something valuable and grow to a new level in everything. Knowing about this opportunity gives me ability to not only survive a situation but thrive as a result of it.
- Authenticity pays off
I find that when I am transparent, open, and honest about my values, beliefs, and intentions I am attracting colleagues and clients that appreciate me for exactly that and who have a similar outlook on life. I also find that putting on an act gets exhausting over time and people eventually catch up on it.
- The present moment is the most powerful moment
I have most leverage in the present moment. When I am truly present I am most creative, make the best decisions, am most connected, and come up with the best ideas. All the preparation and strategizing ahead of time does not help me apply my knowledge when I am not anchored in the moment I need to actually apply it. And so one of my major efforts is to be as present as possible as often as possible.
What do you know for sure??
